No. Most projects need no special skills at all — just show up and we'll point you in the right direction. If you do have a specialized skill (medical, translation, a trade, etc.), the Interests & Skills Survey lets you tell us so we can match you to projects that need it.
You'll self-report whether you're 18 or older when you sign up. Volunteers under 18 are welcome with a signed release from a parent or guardian. That parent or guardian doesn't need to be on-site if the volunteer is part of a group with adult supervisors present.
Only for certain projects — usually ones that involve working directly with children, seniors, or other vulnerable populations. Each opportunity listing tells you upfront whether one's required. If it is and you don't have one on file yet, we'll point you to how to get one started. The check itself is run by a trusted third-party service — Do Good Gainesville never receives your personal information, only the result: cleared, not cleared, or needs more information.
It's a liability waiver confirming that you understand volunteering carries some inherent risk and that you're participating at your own risk. By signing, you release Do Good Gainesville and the partnering nonprofit from liability for injury, loss, or damage that may occur while volunteering. You need one on file before signing up for your first project.

We intentionally cap each project at the number of volunteers it actually needs. Your time is valuable, and we want every project to be a good experience — not a crowd of people standing around with nothing to do. If a project's full, check back — new ones go up regularly, and spots open up when plans change. Browse what's open now.
